About the project
Miha Firšt is credited as double bassist in three opera productions by Iztok Kocen: Veveriček posebne sorte, Kit na plaži and Klik za ljubezen.
The three productions share music by Iztok Kocen, yet each opens a different world: a children’s fairy tale, an opera about accepting difference and a comedy about searching for love in the digital age.
Miha Firšt is credited as the double-bass player in all three. Veveriček posebne sorte is a co-production of the Slovene Chamber Music Theatre and Cankarjev dom; Kit na plaži is produced by Zavod Novo mesto and Kulturni center Janeza Trdine; Klik za ljubezen is a co-production of the Slovene Chamber Music Theatre and Cankarjev dom.

Veveriček posebne sorte
A children’s opera after a fairy tale by Svetlana Makarovič. A squirrel mother is shaken when she realises that one of her children is unlike the others. The story places individuality in a fairy-tale forest and insists that everyone should find and develop their own talents.

A Slovenian opera after the novel of the same name by Vinko Möderndorfer, premiered in May 2024. It addresses younger children, secondary-school pupils and adults and speaks about accepting difference: “Igor is a large whale on a beach among fish.”
